  • Finals

Finals , here they come, whether your ready or not. I am so nervous and at the same time so so excited. I love the fact that there is only a few more weeks left of school. But at the same time that only gives me a few weeks to do everything that I need to get do. Time management at this time is super important and very necessary. The little amount of time that you waste maybe the difference between getting an A in a class or a B or even a C. Focus and know your stuff. It's important that this time is taken seriously, because if you don't your probably going to screw yourself over.

Yet, you also need to make sure that you set aside a time to do something that you like so that you don't get burnt out. Also set aside time to sleep. Sleep is super important. Watch this episode of ZeFrank and here is the site. It's super funny and very true http://www.zefrank.com/theshow/archives/2006/12/120606.html.

Anyway, good luck to everyone with finals and I can't wait for NEXT SEMESTER! Wahoo!

  • WOW

Long time, no write. Well I have been uber busy this semester. School is crazy and work even crazier. Not to mention the social life playing a big part. I find myself wondering when its all going to be over and then I realize I have only 3 more weeks of school and that scares me to death. I mean 3 weeks is hardly enough time to write my papers, study for tests, and bring up my grades. I really need more time! But thats not the way things work so I cram things in the next 3 weeks and try to then regulate my breathing afterwards and maybe by the time we come back for spring semester my life will be completely calm! Ha I don't think so. With the holiday's comes more stress but whatever. I can deal with it I hope.

Winter break will hopefully be as fantasic as I imagine it. I will be teachin snowboardin at sierra at tahoe for 5 glorious weeks. What a way to rejuvinate the body mind and soul! I am so stoked. It shall be glorious. And hopefully it will be the exact break I need to prepare myself for next semester so I can come back ready to go and give it my all again. I really need to use next semesters classes to raise my GPA because after next semester I only have 1 more semester and I will be done...at least until graduate school.

  • 5th week in

So here I am, 5 weeks in. School is flying by. What have I learned in these 5 weeks?

    1. Class at 8 am sucks. If you can work your schedule for later classes do it!

    2. Organization is key. I have to keep my due dates written down in my agenda otherwise I don't remember when anything is due, which has been the cause of many a late night for me. If I don't write things down I tend to forget them. Which brings me to my next point.

    3. Write things down in a place you'll read it. I wrote down a homework assignment and I didn't do it because I wrote it down in my notebook instead of in my agenda. No sense writing a reminder note down if your never gonna read it.

    4. Keep your cool. Things always get harder is you stress about them. Keep a logical train of thought going when thinking about things. If you get to overwhelmed take a break, clear your head then hit whatever it is you need to do head on. A fresh start will usually have you feeling like you can accomplish anything, which will help you finish whatever is bothering you in the first place.

    5. Make time to just relax. Being in college you can get wrapped up in so many things. School, work, parties. By staying so busy you may lose sight of what your here for. And being so busy weakens your immune system causing sickness, which then causes a whole other list of problems.

One thing per week is a good start to learning everything there is to know. Hopefully I will learn more then just these things. Maybe even retain some of the information I am being fed in my classes. Hopefully.

  • HELLO FALL SEMESTER!

    The fall semester has begun.

It's absolutely crazy. I am commuting from Lodi to Merced, my three hour drive, three days a week. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday! Monday's aren't so bad since I don't have to be in Merced until 11am, but on Tuesday's and Thursday's I have an 8am class so I leave Lodi at 6am meaning I am up at 5am. It really sucks. The nice part about my schedule is that I only have things to do three days a week. The other days I am home studying or doing homework or enjoying time with my family.

Family is definately something I have missed living in Merced for the past two years. I never realized how important they were to my emotional well being. I love getting to attend family functions and be there to see my younger cousins growing up. It's so rejuvenating to have my younger cousin Macey (who is four) to play with after she gets home from preschool. Something about watching cartoons and coloring that just refreshes one after a long morning of studying.

Today I am completely tired because I didn't get to bed until one this morning and I had to be up at five to get to school. I found that if you eat sunflower seeds you stay awake, so rather than increase my heart rate with caffeine I increase my blood pressure with salt. I suppose it doesn't matter considering the end result for both. I just like the idea that the reason I stay awake from eating sunflower seeds is because I am concentrating on a specific function that my mouth is peforming. I like to think that by using my brain rather then just injecting coffee into it, I might be doing a slightly more beneficial thing. But who knows?

    Are You a Leader?

Leadership is a hard skill to quantify. There are many aspects of leadership success - from asserting oneself to inspiring others to do their best. Each person has different strengths as a leader and different weaknesses. Knowing your skills allows you to improve upon your weaknesses and take advantage of your strengths.

Your weakness as a leader is what limits your overall leadership capability. Knowing your greatest weakness allows you to notice and actively improve your skill in that area - therefore increasing your overall leadership ability.

    Your Weakest Leadership Skill is:

    Ambition

Utilizing your strongest leadership skill allows you to best achieve your goals as a leader. Emphasizing your strengths enables you to appear as a strong and confident leader, and allows others to overlook any potential flaws.

    Your Strongest Leadership Skill is:

    Understanding

What are the 15 leadership skills?

    • 1. Diligence - How hard do you work?
    • 2. Persistence - For how long will you work to achieve your goal?
    • 3. Understanding - Can you listen to others’ problems?
    • 4. Confrontation - Do you have problems confronting adversaries?
    • 5. Public Speaking - Can you stand in front of crowds and talk to them?
    • 6. Problem Solving - Are you able to find appropriate solutions?
    • 7. Role Model - Do people look up to you and your values?
    • 8. Disposition - Are you easy to get along with?
    • 9. Flexibility - Can you change your schedule according to group majority?
    • 10. Ambition - Do you ever settle for mediocrity?
    • 11. Organization - Can you keep a schedule for you and your followers?
    • 12. Punctuality - Are you on time for your appointments?
    • 13. Loyalty - Do you drop out of programs or change votes?
    • 14. Street Smarts - Can you hold your own voice in the real world?
    • 15. Versatility - Are you a jack of all trades or a master of none?

    Leader Test Results

I would have to agree with the results for both of these tests. They seem to describe me quite well.
